Norfolk College for Young Ladies
The Norfolk College for Young Ladies was a finishing school for young women in Norfolk, Virginia that operated from 1880 to 1899. The school was founded to reduce the flow of young women leaving Norfolk for their education.〔Johnson, Joan Marie. After the schools closed, the building became a hotel until the 1960s, and retail stores remained until a 1983 fire, after which the building was demolished.〔(College Place ), Norfolk Public Library, Retrieved 8 January 2013〕
The school's former location on "College Place" is now part of the Norfolk campus of Tidewater Community College.
